We'd love to hear from you!

Would you like to receive The Daily Yi  in your in-box every day?
Each day, we read the original text of a hexagram or Changing Line, and discuss its meaning in today's world.

Example:

"From Hexagram 1, The Creative.  Changing Line 1:

"Hidden dragon. Do not act."

In China, the dragon has a very different symbolic meaning from that given to it in the West.

For the Chinese, the dragon is the symbol of the height of creativity --- the energized, dynamic, powerful, potent ability to creat new things and to get things done.

Receiving this line means that this creative force is available to you, but the time is not yet right to use it.   Don't be impatient and exhaust yourself. The Creative will make itself known when the time is ripe."

FAQ:   What exactly is the Daily Yi? Does it pertain to my situation?  Or is it just general information?

Answer:

The Daily Yi is the hexagram I receive when I ask the Yi, "What message do you want to send?" and then throw the coins.  In that sense, it is general information, and a chance to look at how we can interpret, today, the often obscure words and phrases of the ancient Chinese.

It is also, I believe the "current" of which Wilhelm spoke when he said, ""The way in which the Book of Changes works can best be compared to an electrical circuit reaching into all situations. The circuit only affords the potentiality of lighting; it does not give light. But when contact with a definite siutation is established, the current is activated, and the given siutation is illumined."

In other words, it is telling us the pattern of the way things are going in the Universe.  It is up to us to "plug in" our own, specific situations and let the light shine on them.

When you throw the coins with a specific question in mind, the hexagram you receive is specific advice about that situation.  It is personal to you and is directed at that specific question.
